Collaborating Across Sectors for Systems Change
The Northern Virginia Health Foundation held a panel conversation about an important cross-sector partnership between the health and criminal justice systems that is helping connect people with substance and opioid use disorders to the care they need.
Panelists included:
Alison Ansher, MD, MPH, Prince William Health District Director;
Becky Sutter, DNP, Mason and Partners Clinic Co-Director; and
Major Mandy Lambert, CJM, Director of Support Services, Prince William-Manassas Adult Detention Center and President, American Jail Association,
Panelists shared lessons learned about communicating in each’s other’s languages, dealing with skepticism and resistance in their own organizations (and in the community), changing policies and procedures, and tips for breaking down the silos between the health and justice systems in their community.
