Jane Woods opened her own consulting firm, Driftwoods Consulting, LCC, in January 2006, upon completing a four-year term as Virginia’s Secretary of Health and Human Resources with Governor Mark R. Warner. Woods also joined the College of Health and Human Services, Department for Health Administration and Policy at George Mason University in 2006. Woods has also served in the Virginia House of Delegates and the Virginia State Senate where she chaired the Senate Committee on Education and Health. Her work in the legislature included working as vice chair of the Joint Commission on Health Care, as well as on numerous commissions and joint committees. Before serving in the legislature, Woods taught in the public schools for almost 20 years. Her extensive community service includes having served as board member and former vice chair of the Fairfax Falls Church Community Services Board chairing the Northern Virginia Suicide Prevention Alliance Leadership Council and, formerly, as board member of the Virginia Health Quality Center, now Health Quality Innovators. Woods chaired the Northern Virginia Health Foundation board 2019-2020.
